17yo M’sian Girl Laments Having To Share Room With 6 Siblings, With 1 More On The Way

When we were young, we were often made to share our room with our younger siblings due to space constraint. But as we get older, we’d prefer to have our own personal space.

A teenage girl was left deeply frustrated over the fact that she still has to share a room with her already massive number of siblings — only to have it exacerbated by her mother becoming pregnant with her seventh child.

According to a report by mStar, the 17-year-old girl, who is the oldest child in the family, took to social media to vent her frustrations over the fact that she was forced to share a single room with six other siblings.

I have six siblings, including myself—four girls and two boys. We live in a rented house with two bedrooms, one bathroom, and one car.

“I’m really sorry. I don’t know why, but I feel like I can’t accept that my mom is pregnant again. I’m sorry,” she wrote in the post.

The teen also revealed that her parents barely earn enough to keep the family afloat with their combined monthly income of RM4,000.

Aside from living in cramped conditions, she also has to endure the constant bouts of rage her father displays.

My dad has a bad temper — he throws things, kicks doors, and yells if food is late. When he gets angry, he always curses and brings up the money he gives.

“Cooking, cleaning, and housework are my responsibilities, and the kitchen is where I study and sleep,” she said.

In the post, the girl admitted to feeling deeply uncomfortable sharing a room with her siblings and being jealous of her friends who have their own living space.

“Every day, I search for a new rental house with four bedrooms and a rental fee of below RM700, but I can’t find one.

“I dream of living in a house with four bedrooms or buying a piece of land to build a house, but I know it’s not easy and will take a long time,” she conceded dejectedly.
