The police are currently investigating five men involved in a brawl on the road at Batu 8, Jalan Tanjung Rambutan-Tambun yesterday (28 July).
A 16-second video of the incident went viral on social media, showing a group of men fighting on the road using what appears to be rattan canes.
Kosmo! reported that the Ipoh District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Yahaya Hassan, said they are aware of the viral video through WhatsApp since yesterday.
He stated that the incident occurred at 5:30 p.m. yesterday and involved five Malaysian men.
“We are currently conducting an investigation to identify the individuals involved in the altercation and determine the cause of their fight.”
“The investigation papers for this case have been opened under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting with weapons,” he said today.
He urged the public with any information to come forward and assist with the investigation or contact the investigating officer, Assistant Superintendent Norshaharah Marzuki, at 010-3790508.
