Air India Plane Carrying 242 Passengers Crashes Immediately After Takeoff

An Air India flight carrying 242 people, including 2 pilots and 10 cabin crew, crashed shortly after taking off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad.

The aircraft, a Boeing 787 (VT-ANB), was operating flight AI-171 from Ahmedabad to Gatwick when the tragic incident occurred.

Details of the flight

According ANI, the flight, commanded by Capt. Sumeet Sabharwal and First Officer Clive Kundar, was just moments into its journey when the crash took place.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has launched an investigation into the incident to determine the cause.

Passengers onboard

There were 242 people onboard, with a mix of passengers and crew.
