Scammers are getting more creative, and social media has become one of their favourite tools to deceive the public.

With more people relying on apps like TikTok for quick information, it’s easy to fall into the trap of seemingly legitimate accounts that are actually fakes.

A TikTok account pretending to be EPF, using the username @kwspmalaysiaa, has surfaced, misleading followers into thinking it is legitimate.

Unlike the official EPF handle @kwsp.malaysia, which has 98k followers, this fake account has gained 1,482 followers and posted three videos, one of which has already garnered over 500k views.

In its most recent video, the fake account advertises a so-called “special EPF withdrawal” (Pengeluaran Khas) for members under the age of 55, claiming it can be processed online between 7 and 30 October 2024.
