Body Of Baby Boy With Umbilical Cord Found In River Near Old Klang Road 

In a heartbreaking discovery, the body of a newborn baby boy still attached to his umbilical cord was found floating in a river along Old Klang Road on Friday (9 May).

According to Oriental Daily, Brickfields District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Kuma Shariaman stated that the police received an emergency call about the incident at 2.05pm.

A man who was dining at a nearby restaurant spotted what looked like a body caught between rocks in the river and immediately alerted the authorities.

Moments later, a team from the Seputeh Fire and Rescue Department arrived at the scene and successfully retrieved the body from the water.

It was confirmed to be a male infant, and the umbilical cord was still attached,” said ACP Kuma.

Case under investigation for baby dumping

Police are now investigating the case under Section 318 of the Penal Code for the concealment of birth by disposal of a dead body.

So far, no suspects have been identified.

The baby’s remains were sent to the University of Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC), where a post-mortem is scheduled to be carried out today (10 May) at 1pm.
