Curry pau? SG famous curry puff food chain sells ‘unfried’ version of curry puff

Malaysians love fried snacks, especially iconic ones we can grab at roadside stall, namely, karipap ayam (chicken curry puff), karipap sardin, pisang goreng, and keropok.

A healthier way of having curry puff?

A famous Singapore food chain, Old Chang Kee turns one of the iconic fried goods into a whole new look – steamed version of curry puff.

Old Chang Kee specialises in making delectable fried snacks and bites in Singapore.

Thus, one outlet’s move of adding this new steamed version of curry puff to their menu has successfully captured the locals’ attention.

Not the usual karipap

The item is called Curry Chicken Bao, which looks like a curry puff in shape but steamed instead of deep-fried.

This bun definitely lives up to the common phrase, same same but different.

According to the local media, the bao is only available at the Tanjong Pagar outlet.

Seems like Singaporeans have a thing for healthy food.

What say you, Malaysians?

Yay or nay? Would you try the unfried version of karipap ayam or is it sacrilegious to the OG karipap?
