KUALA LUMPUR – Thirteen foreigners believed to be sex workers were arrested during a raid by the Immigration Department at Jalan Pudu on Wednesday (Oct 6).
This included eight Vietnamese women, four Indonesian women, a Vietnamese man, and two Malaysians.
The raid was carried out at two low cost apartments suspected of organising illegal activities during the National Recovery Plan (NRP).
Buzzing with business
According to Immigration Director-General Dato’ Indera Khairul Dzaimee bin Daud, the apartments were patronised by both locals and foreigners, where they were charged RM60 per session.
“Clients were served in two shifts. The morning shift was from 7am to 3pm, while the afternoon shift began from 3pm until 9pm.
“Each sex worker was also tasked with attending up to 14 clients per shift,” he said.

A total of 27 immigration officers were dispatched to the scene, where they successfully prevented the occupants from escaping after blocking all of the exits.
Khairul added that all the suspects will be sent to the Semenyih Immigration Detention Depot for further investigation under the Anti-Trafficking in Persons & Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007 (ATIPSOM), Immigration Act 1959/63, Passport Act 1966, and Immigration Laws 1963.
They will also be investigated for not possessing proper documents, overstaying their welcome, and other offenses under the Immigration Act.
