According to Lianhe Zaobao, the Malaysian man named Fazli who worked as an SMRT bus driver in Singapore, was passing through Woodlands Checkpoint towards Malaysia on May 6 at about 3:50pm.

While there, he walked towards an auxiliary officer who was on duty and started speaking to him in Malay.

When the officer showed confusion, Fazli switched to English, asking: “Do you have bullets in your pistol?” before reaching for the officer’s gun to touch it.

This prompted the officer to place both hands on his gun in an attempt to stop Fazli and called for help.

But this did little to dissuade Fazli, who then reached for the second officer’s gun who came to the scene to provide assistance.

Fazli was eventually arrested and slapped with two charges of using criminal force to obstruct a public servant in the discharge of their duty.

Gets 6 weeks in jail

In court on Monday (June 16), Fazli pleaded guilty to one of the charges while the second charge was taken into consideration.

Under Singaporean law, he faces a jail term of up to six months, a fine of up to S$2,500 (approx. RM8,200), or both.

He was eventually sentenced to six weeks in jail.
