Public urged to help baby Hussein reunite with his biological mother

SLIM RIVER: A baby boy named Hussein is currently in need of his biological mother after she mysteriously disappeared shortly after giving birth at the Slim River Hospital in late April.

An officer from Muallim’s Social Welfare Department (JKM) Wan Nurhaliza Wan Ghazali, said the 22-year-old woman, known as Rashidah Abdullah, gave birth to Hussein on April 22.

According to her, baby Hussein was found to be infected with jaundice a few days after his birth and received treatment at the children’s ward.

“On April 29, his mother was allowed to go to town at noon to run some errands.

“But she hasn’t returned to the ward ever since,” she said in a statement today.

Wan Nurhaliza added the hospital contacted JKM to take care of Hussein after failing to track his mother down.

She said JKM temporarily named the two-month-old baby Hussein as required under the Child Protection Act 2001 (Amendment 2016).

“Based on the latest information, the woman lives in Hulu Bernam and we hope that anyone who knows her whereabouts will come forward and contact JKM immediately.

“JKM had previously tried to track the woman down based on her last address but were unable to locate her,” she said.

Anyone who has further information can contact JKM at 05-4529664.
